This Privacy Policy explains how the Chrome extension Domain Network Info handles data.

Domain Network Info is designed for a single purpose: to help users inspect network-related information for the current website, including IP address, country, ASN, provider, and DNS records.

1. Extension Purpose

Domain Network Info allows users to view technical network information for the website currently open in the active browser tab.

The extension may show:

  • The hostname of the current website
  • IP address information
  • Country information
  • ASN information
  • Network provider information
  • DNS records
  • Optional local visit statistics, only if the user enables this feature

The extension is not designed to track users across websites, profile users, serve ads, or collect personal browsing history for remote processing.

2. Permissions and Why They Are Used

tabs

The extension uses the tabs permission to read the URL of the current active tab.

This is used only to extract the hostname, such as example.com, so the extension can perform DNS, IP, ASN, and provider lookups for the current website.

The extension does not collect page titles, page content, form content, messages, authentication data, financial information, health information, or full browsing history.

storage

The extension uses the storage permission to save data locally in the browser.

This may include:

  • Extension settings
  • Lookup cache
  • Local visit statistics, only after the user explicitly enables this feature

Local visit statistics are disabled by default.

alarms

The extension uses the alarms permission only when local visit statistics are enabled by the user.

This permission is used to periodically save open-time statistics so timing data is not lost when the Chrome extension service worker goes idle or is suspended.

host permissions

The extension uses host permissions to access external lookup services required for DNS, IP, and ASN information.

These services include:

  • Cloudflare DNS
  • api.iplocation.net
  • HackerTarget ASN Lookup

These requests are used only to retrieve DNS, IP location, provider, and ASN information for the domain or IP being queried.

3. Data Collection and Local Storage

By default, Domain Network Info does not upload user visit statistics.

Local visit statistics are disabled by default. If the user explicitly enables local visit statistics, the extension stores the following data locally on the user’s device:

  • Main domain
  • Subdomain
  • Visit count
  • Open duration
  • Last visit time

This data is stored locally in the browser and is used only to provide local statistics to the user.

Domain Network Info does not record:

  • Full URLs
  • URL query parameters
  • Page titles
  • Page content
  • Form content
  • Personal communications
  • Authentication information
  • Financial information
  • Health information
  • User input content

4. Third-Party Services

Domain Network Info uses third-party services to provide network lookup functionality.

Cloudflare DNS

Cloudflare DNS is used for DNS queries.

api.iplocation.net

api.iplocation.net is used to retrieve IP country and provider information.

HackerTarget ASN Lookup

HackerTarget ASN Lookup is used to retrieve ASN information.

These services may receive the domain name or IP address being queried. The extension does not send page content, full URLs, URL query parameters, page titles, form content, or user-entered content to these services.

The privacy practices of these third-party services are governed by their own policies.

5. Remote Code

Domain Network Info does not load or execute remote code.

All JavaScript, HTML, and CSS files are packaged locally with the extension.

Network requests made with fetch retrieve JSON or text data for lookup results. This data is not executed as code.

6. Data Sharing

Domain Network Info does not sell user data.

Domain Network Info does not transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.

Domain Network Info does not use user data for:

  • Advertising
  • Credit eligibility
  • Lending decisions
  • User profiling
  • Data brokerage
  • Any purpose unrelated to DNS, IP, ASN, provider lookup, or user-enabled local statistics

7. User Controls

Users can control local statistics from the extension settings page.

Users can:

  • Turn local visit statistics on or off
  • Clear locally stored visit statistics

If local visit statistics are disabled, the extension does not keep local visit statistics.

8. Data Security

Domain Network Info stores settings, cache, and optional local statistics in Chrome extension storage.

The extension does not operate a remote server for collecting user statistics.

9. Children’s Privacy

Domain Network Info is a technical utility for inspecting domain and network information. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the extension’s functionality, permissions, or data handling practices change.
